Pilates Classes

Matwork is the original system of movement Joseph Pilates created. The philosophy focuses on training the mind and body. The goal of the matwork sequence at any level is to create a natural flow of movement and then to gradually increase the dynamic or energy with which you perform the movement without sacrificing the control. Matwork classes are performed normally lying on a mat sometimes using small pieces of equipment.

With our small classes  the Instructor can really make sure clients are doing the moves correctly which enables them to reach their own maximum potential.

Vickie Ridley

Vickie completed her matwork training with APPI in 2014, after attending classes herself since 2001.  This complements her work as a musculoskeletal Physiotherapist which she has done since 1995.   She enjoys helping people reach their full potential and is passionate about the benefits of Pilates.

Tailor made group Pilates by arrangement.

Laura Child

Laura studied to be an Advanced Personal Trainer with Future Fit well over a decade ago, and specialised in Mat Based Pilates when a running injury turned out to be a posture injury. GP Referral Exercise was part of her qualifications, and then she added Pre and Post Natal exercise to her repertoire. This she has a personal, as well as professional, interest in, as she has taught and exercised throughout three pregnancies.

Pilates is straight and strong, realigning your posture, and working with inner strength to create support and comfort in the body. Only then can we work towards improving mobility and whole body strength, which in turn improves body shape and mental wellbeing.

From rehabilitating from an injury, or struggling with disease, or even training to get in the marines, Laura's classes are suitable for everyone and every body.

Seated Exercise Classes

The Chair is great for standing or seated work.    It is beneficial for people with injuries or post surgery but rehab is not its only function.  It is also  very effective for building arm and leg strength.   Our Physio Sue uses her physiotherapy knowledge to put together programmes that help patients achieve their full capabilities.
